ASODEC comuniqué
Several months ago different financial sectors tied to the Dominican economy initiated a campaign to petition the State to tax online purchases totaling US$ 200.00 and more.
This campaign is based on a series of op-ed pieces and paid coverage on print media. Figures have been manipulated, by misrepresenting the truth about the sector.
In this respect, Aeropaq is committed to providing our customers with verifiable data provided by the Asociación Dominicana de Empresas Couriers Inc. (ASODEC).
We feel it is our responsibility to educate our clients about the reality of our industry, protecting the purchasing power of the Dominican people who buy online for their countless benefits.
The Dominican Republic has signed the DR-CAFTA free trade agreement, as well as other international accords that protect against tariffs levied against online purchases of up to US$ 200.00. Therefore, taxing such purchases would be a flagrant violation of the previously mentioned international agreements.
Below we publish in full the recently-released ASODEC communiqué (available in Spanish).
Feel free to contact us in case you shall have any doubts regarding this matter.
We reiterate our commitment to continue backing proposals benefiting our customers and facilitate their access to quality products, many of which are not readily available in the local market at a much more reasonable price.
